Just cats and things

We've started the biscuits. Very nice, though it feels a tiny bit wrong to eat a koala.

Some self-indulgent pictures of cats. This is Cassie, reading the Sunday papers via her bottom. She's an intellectual.

Cassie to the left, Sirius to the right. He's sitting in the Australian box, specifically on the packets of biscuits, warming them up nicely with his bottom. They survived intact.

Here's Daughter 1, the one who's going to make us grandparents in July (if all goes well), tickling Sirius under the chin. She has long hair, hasn't she? And won't the baby enjoy pulling it? Sirius is snoozing on my mother's coat. Comfy.

And this is Cassie cuddling into Mr Life. If you actually asked her to lie with her head considerably lower than her feet, she would protest in no uncertain terms. But since it was her choice, she seemed to be enjoying it. As was Mr Life.
Extract from an essay today:

I would like to be a radio presenter but in reality I would like to be a basketball player or an actor or an internet sensation on YouTube.

What would you like to be? Or? Or? Or?

  1. I think that student is keeping his options open, do you think? Very wise.

  2. You're so funny. I'm glad you have photos to prove how smart your kitties are -- we've always known it, you know. And funny -- when I first saw DD1's long hair, a baby pulling it was the first thing to pop into my mind. and then you said it!

  3. Oh, keeping options open for an occupation is wise-look at my lack of available teaching positions! ;) I love your posts! Oh, what long hair your daughter has! :) Hope it was a day worth smiling for. :)

  4. Those are some talented felines you've got there! Interested in current affairs, even if they do absorb the information through their bottoms, talented in koala warming, and decorative to boot!
Sounds like your student intends to be as well rounded as your cats!

  6. It is extremely frustrating to see those eminently strokeable cats, and not to be able to touch them.
How is the afflicted part? And has all the ice and snow melted?

  7. Love that image of the cats in the box! A bit like when you have given a gift to a child, only to find him or her later entranced with the box.

As a first step your student has made it onto a blog! Maybe he'd better borrow the studying techniques from your cats... ;-)

  9. Koala biscuits are like jellybabies. You need to be brutal and just bite the heads off first. Get it over with, you know.

  10. I'm not sure why that student thinks being a radio announcer is any more of a pipe dream than his/her other choices.

I love the way cats always sit in a box.

  11. Right now, I'd like to be Cassie. Or Sirius. Or Shelagh. Or Minty. Then I would be nice and warm at home.....with people dancing attendance on me and satisfying my every whim. A small price to pay for having my picture taken from time to time and my antics discussed widely.....

  13. after the first or second yank, she'll tie back her hair - or cut it off (which i hope she does NOT do cuz they outgrow pulling hair and move on to other stuff - like biting and throwing tantrums ... and melting hearts...

what would i like to be? well ... i'd like to be under the sea in an octopus' garden in the shade

  15. Beautiful kitty photos!
It doesn't take much to be a sensation on YouTube. Just use your mobile phone to video a couple of drunk Australian football players with their pants down...

  16. What beautiful cats! It is amazing how they all think that every box is a new adventure. I especially like that little black cat figurine in one of the photos and your previous post.

  17. My mum once found our old cat stretched out asleep on two halves of a freshly baked sponge cake which she had left to cool on a rack on the kitchen counter.

DD2's hair is not only very long but also lovely and shiny. I have observed new mothers often suddenly acquire short hair. Though she could plait it up all prettily to keep it out the way.
